Welcome to Surviving Prostate Cancer

April 28th, 2009 robdav

My name is Robert Davies. I am 39 years old and live in Berkshire, United Kingdom. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2008 and have recently undergone robotic prostatectomy to remove the prostate. I have a family history of Prostate Cancer, having lost both Grandfathers to the illness, as well as my father being diagnosed 4 years ago. At the time robotic prostatectomy wasn’t an option for him so he underwent full open prostatectomy which I am please to say was a total success.

I decided to write this blog for two reasons. I have not had much contact during my illness with anyone else who has or had prostate cancer especially at an early age as in my case and didn’t really know how to deal with some of it. I  also wanted to share my experience because I think it’s important that people see that you can survive prostate cancer.

This is a very personal account of the days leading up to, during, and then after the operation. I have been as honest as I can in my account and have added relevant information where required.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this blog. If, in writing this, one man gets a PSA test done and has cancer detected early, then in a small way it has helped.

Remember, pass on this message… PSA Testing might save your life!

Please feel free to leave comments and questions and I will do my best to answer them as quickly as possible.

The posts within the blog are posted in order so that the newest post is displayed first and the oldest post is on the final page.
