Yesterday Diana, the kids, and I went off into London to take part in the second filming day for the TV documentary that I am taking part in. I didn’t know what to expect having only met one member of the crew before and none of the other chaps involved. So when we finally arrived at the office of the production company I felt pretty nervous.
We were directed to an upstairs room where I walked into a room where the refreshments were being provided. The kids found the biscuits instantly and they lasted all of five minutes. There sat round a table were the 8 other chaps involved in the filming. Each one has their own stories, own journey, and own reasons why they are taking part. This strange mix of men, all different ages, all different backgrounds, all coming together for one reason. It was a day filled with photographs, filming, eating, drinking, talking, walking, dancing, showing off, getting undressed, getting dressed again, but most of all it was a day will with friendship, support, and passion.
The day was broken up into two parts, the morning was spent having our photos taken, talking and having lunch, the afternoon was spent dressing up, dancing, and another photo shoot. The crew were on hand to guide us, and keep us in order when we couldn’t help ourselves and all wanted to simply talk about things. We all wanted to share our experiences with each other, and although we had only just met there was already a bond between us. Coming away from the shoot, I felt as if I had met some of the bravest people I have had the pleasure of meeting. These chaps had been on a journey that, similar to my own, but each different in their own way. The way we all came together, all looked after each other, and all supported each other throughout the day was heart warming, and made me feel like I was part of something really special.
Over the coming weeks I will be writing more on my experiences with the filming and I will go into more details of what it is we are trying to achieve. Until next time…
